Terms and Conditions for Alpha Beta Cycles Virtual Vuelta

1.
Introduction

Welcome to the Alpha Beta Cycles Virtual
Vuelta! By participating in this event, you agree to comply with the following
terms and conditions. Please read them carefully.

2. Event
Dates and Structure

Event
Duration:
August 17, 2024 - September 8, 2024.

Stages: 21
stages, including time trials on August 17 and September 8.

Rest
Days:
August 26 and September 2.

Completion
Window:
28 days to complete all stages.

3.
Participation Requirements

Strava
Group Membership:
Participants must join the Alpha Beta
Cycles Virtual Vuelta Strava group.

Ride
Labeling:
Rides must be labeled with the race name
and stage number (e.g., "VV Stage 1") to be eligible.

4.
Penalties

Missed
Stage Penalty:
If a participant misses a stage, they
will be assigned the slowest time for that stage plus a 20% penalty.

Post-Tour
Penalty:
Each day after stage 21 that a stage is
completed will incur a 10-second penalty.

Rest
Days:
Rest days can be used to catch up on
missed stages without incurring a penalty.

Multiple
Rides:
Participants may complete more than one
ride per day without incurring any penalties.

5. Ride
Scheduling

Stage
Availability:
Certain stages are only open on specific
days. Participants must plan their schedules accordingly.

Labeling
Requirement:
Each ride must include the word
"stage" and the corresponding stage number in its title.

6. Time
Calculation

Algorithm
Use:
An algorithm is used to calculate final
times for each stage to allow for a cool-down period. Final times may vary
slightly from the time recorded at the end of the ride.

7.
Monitoring and Fair Play

Monitoring:
Participants can monitor their w/kg,
although there are no mandatory weigh-ins.

Cheating
Suspicions:
If cheating is suspected, participants
may be required to prove their power outputs and weight.

Algorithm
Adjustment:
The algorithm used to calculate stage
times will be monitored for fairness, and adjustments may be made to
ensure equitable competition.

Community and Conduct

Sportsmanship:
Participants are expected to engage in fair play and exhibit good
sportsmanship throughout the event.

Community
Engagement:
Riders are encouraged to connect with
fellow participants, share experiences, and support each other.

10. Fun
Over Competition

Focus
on Fun:
The primary goal of the event is to
celebrate the cycling spirit and have fun. Participants are encouraged to
enjoy the experience and foster camaraderie.

Participation
at Own Risk:
Participants join and compete at their
own risk. Alpha Beta Cycles is not responsible for any injuries or damages
incurred during the event.

to Terms:
Alpha Beta Cycles reserves the right to
modify these terms and conditions at any time. Participants will be
notified of any changes.
